Deep Etching
Deep Etching is a printing industry term for isolating image areas from backgrounds for print. Typical for advertising items with sales text and alternative coloured backgrounds in print material. Some examples can usually be seen in most sales or advertising brochures.
To process your images for deep etching we start with organising professional scans of your transparencies or photos. Then using Photoshop, a selection is created around the areas to be isolated. The selection is then used to create an outline path for converting to an image clipping path. The image with clipping path is then saved an encapsulated postscript (EPS) file format for use with professional desktop publishing software.
